@theanimeloser: You stretch following a warm-up. If you stretch cold muscles you run more of a risk of pulling the muscle versus stretching a slightly loosened, warmed-up muscle. If stretching cold works for you by all means continue, but try a bit of a jog, some sets of jumping jacks, and maybe a few sets of push-ups and see if it doesn’t work a little better.

    the mini split looks WRONG

Wow, this guy is so stupid. You stretch at the beginning of class BEFORE the ‘warm ups’ (which by the way, real martial art schools don’t have) so that you don’t pull something or hyper extend anything. I’m not trying to be a troll, I’m just letting the poor people watching this who believe him have a warning first.

you’re an idiot. static stretching reduces strength and can lead to injury if you stretch before a warm up. dynamic stretching should be done after a thorough warm up. this guy is also an idiot. the high kicks, especially when you walk with them, are an excellent example of dynamic stretching. he is right about static stretching after excercise, however. and why wouldn’t “real martial arts schools” have warmups? that’s the most retarded thing i’ve ever heard.

Okay….. First of all, stretching before a class is better because your stretching out your muscles and if you don’t, it can lead to something getting pulled or something getting hyper extended. It has nothing to do about loosing strength. Second, I’m talking about real martial arts schools not having warmups because (at least at the school I attend) the stretches are the warm ups. Also, I’d appreciate if you didn’t call me an idiot, thank you.

Uh yeah, I go to one of the best schools in the world and yeah you warm up because its harder to do streches when your muscles are cold, I know. What school do you go to anyways? And you clearly don’t know what you are talking about either so leave posting to the masters please, no Mcdojoers.

This guy isn’t even a black belt. He’s making rookie mistakes. Look, he doesn’t even raise his hands to guard when he kicks. Shaolin students use leg raises all the time and they’re some of the most flexible people on earth.
