7 Really Good Reasons You Need to Learn to Use the Kubotan Self-Defense Keychain

Ironically, in a world filled with terrorism, assault, rape, and murder, I have to write an article giving people reasons why they should be learning self-defense or the Kubotan personal-protection weapon. But then, if I didn’t, who would?

I hear questions concerning which techniques are best and what weapon should I be training with if I’m concerned about XYZ? If you have questions like these, perhaps this article can help.

Since this article focuses on the self-defense weapon most commonly known as the Kubotan, my answers will be along those line. So, just in case you’ve ever asked questions like…

“Which self-defense weapon is best for the beginner or untrained person?”

“Why should I learn to use the Kubotan self-defense keychain?” Or…

“What’s so special about the Kubotan?”

Here are some of the answers I came up with off the top of my head:

1. It’s one of the easiest weapons to learn and use.

If you’re concerned about self-protection, you don’t have the luxery of time on your side. Where a student seeking to learn a martial art for confidence-building, discipline, or for purely asthetic reasons can take all the time he or she needs, you need to find techniques and, in this case, weapons that can be picked up and mastered in the quickest time possible.

2. Short of picking up a rock or a stick, it’s one of the cheapest weapons to buy or make.

Cost is another factor for many people. Of course, if you can afford it and they’re legal where you live, nothing beats a handgun for making sure you have the advantage in a self-defense situation, regardless of what anybody says. But, for many, expense, age, and restrictive laws make this a problem. So, the easiest thing to do is find something that will work for you without a lot of expense in time, money, or effort.

3. It instantly gives a smaller defender a serious advantage over a larger, stronger assailant.

Nothing brings a larger assailant to his knees (not to mention tears) like a well-placed piece of metal. When used properly agains the many weak points and sensitive areas of the human body, the Kubotan is right up there as a formidable weapon, especially for the smaller defender.

4. It’s easily concealable, allowing it seemingly come out of “nowhere” to surprise and confuse the attacker.

You don’t always want to be obvious in a self-defense situation. It makes it too easy for the attacker to prevent you from carrying out your way-cool move. The small, easily-concealable Kubotan can slip into spaces and damage areas of the assailant’s body that he can’t see or protect until it’s too late.

5. It’s legal to carry in most areas.

From a purely practical standpoint, legality should be the last thing you’re worried about when it comes to defending yourself. After all, is the criminal acting in a legal and responsible way when he or she attacks you? But… If this is a concern, the generally acceptable nature of the Kubotan makes it a great choice as a personal protection weapon.

6. If it’s not legal where you live, it’s easily substituted by a wide array of every day items that are the same shape and/or size.

Just because the law says that you can own, carry, or use a certain type of weapon, doesn’t mean that you can find plenty of legal items in everyday use that make perfect substitutes. Learn to think outside the box and don’t let something as simple as a “prohibited weapon list” prevent you from learning a valuable skill.

7. It would be stupid not to.

Of course, this also means that not learning to defend yourself in general is, not only stupid, also not very responsible as an adult who should be able to handle their own problems and take care of themselves in this big, bad world.

In a self-defense situation, assailants typically brandish a weapon, not to use it, but to gain an advantage by merely showing it. Having even a simple weapon, like the Kubotan, evens the odds and can even tip them in your favor.

So, the next time you’re wondering whether or not you should consider adding the simple-looking, yet amazingly powerful Kubotan self-defense keychain to your self-defense arsenal…

…the answer is a resounding, “Yes!”

Are Mace Pepper Batons A Good Self Defense Weapon?

Mace Pepper Batons are a good self defense weapons choice for a few reasons.

  • They are small and compact so they are easy to carry.
  • They are easy to hide from an attacker giving you an easy advantage.
  • They are solid self defense weapons that you can use to hit pressure points and break bones.
  • They have the added benefit of a refillable pepper spray container inside.

I have been around the self defense weapons industry for awhile and even though the mace pepper baton is small and looks like it couldn’t do much damage to an attacker don’t be fooled. If the user has even the smallest amount of self defense weapons techniques to use in an attack it is a very formidable self defense weapon.

What the mace pepper baton basically is is a kubaton that is made for striking bony surfaces, nerve points, and soft tissue. You don’t necessarily have to know a lot of self defense or fighting techniques knowledge to use a mace pepper baton. You just start swinging and poking and it gets the job done. If it doesn’t you can use the pepper spray that is in it and that will at least slow your attacker down long enough for you to get away.

There are several different ways you can use the mace pepper baton.

  • You can attach the mace pepper baton to your key chain and use both your keys and the kubaton as a self defense weapon.
  • You can swing it at the elbow or kneecap to give a very painful blow that can sometimes break bones.
  • Jab it just under the jaw line and it gives a cramping sensation in the mouth to the attacker…be careful doing this though. It can be a deadly blow only to be used in a life or death situation.
  • If you poke the attacker in the center of the chest just below where the ribcage joins together it will make them lose their breath for a short time and it could break some ribs if the blow is hard enough and your aim is slightly high.

Once again I want to talk to the ladies out there. Sorry guys if I seem one sided here but, I have seen too many women beaten and battered simply because they talked to another guy or they didn’t get the dishes done or supper cooked or the many other idiotic reasons why women are beaten. And all because they don’t have any self defense weapons or they don’t know any fighting techniques to defend themselves.

Ladies, there are too many cases out there where women are living everyday of their lives thinking..”it’s o.k. that he smacks me around a little. I deserve it. I didn’t do this or that.” I have just one thing to say to this… STOP!!!

No one deserves to be treated this way. This is one of the reasons I got into the self defense weapons industry. Not necessarily to make a profit but to use that profit to make a difference and spread domestic violence awareness and I want you ladies out there to realize there is a better life out there, not all men hit, and there is a solution to your situation if you are being abused. Buy yourself a self defense weapon or take a self defense course and teach these *&*%$%$# a lesson.

Making Martial Arts As A Good Well Rounded Workout Regiment.

As I was reading about Martial Arts and all that it involves, I became very enthralled. I dared to find out what all the excitement was about. The phenomenon of martial arts to be used as a workout regiment for many athletes or even perspective physical fitness fans is growing rapidly. In a nutshell, this is all that I discovered.

What I found to be most interesting is the fact that martial arts is researched and is used for various reasons based on each individual’s goals. Martial arts are simply defined as the systems of practices and traditions of training for combat. The sport is utilized for combat skills, fitness, self- defense, character development and building self-confidence. I feel that the art is commendable in that it strives to enhance moral values and provide guidance for children who become involved with the sport. So, I decided to study further to obtain information on how it may be beneficial as a “workout regiment.” I continued to find measures that could contribute to a successful martial arts workout. Coincidently, the art has as one of its benefits the exercising of your body and mind so you gain a “good well rounded” workout.

Many forms of martial arts will help you burn calories, along with the structuring of strength and endurance. You would not believe that the appropriate administration of the martial arts techniques helps you burn up 600 calories within an hour. However, it is important that you find the style that will be most accommodating to your lifestyle. Let me discuss with you the different styles in order for you to choose the best fit for you.

For full body training, Judo may be a perfect choice for you. Judo is defined as “the gentle way” and concentrates more on self-defense as opposed to attacking your opponent. Its basic purpose is to throw your component through different techniques to disarm him. It is recommended, however, that you are not physically challenged to perform these movements.

Perhaps Kung Fu may be an option for you. This will definitely add some spice to your workout. Kung Fu is put into two categories, hard and soft. The hard style focuses mainly on impressive strikes and kicks, while the other, soft Kung Fu focuses more on staying balanced and grounded when attacked. At any rate, both styles are prominent for self-defense skills while simultaneously enhancing quickness and agility. If you desire more of a challenge or competitive edge, learn Karate. Different from Kung Fu, Karate displays more combative and focuses on blows with the hands and feet. There are also special breathing and shouting techniques. Karate is a great choice especially for family exercising as classes are offered from the beginner to competitive.

Lastly, Tai Chi is another form of martial arts. During Tai Chi, your goal is to control energy, conveniently known as “Chi.” Its practice is to have slow and controlled movements that vary in the length of performance. Tai Chi is not very advantageous with weight loss, yet it does prove to improve flexibility and reduce stress. More so, it may even lower blood pressure and cholesterol. Since the techniques are slower than other martial art forms, it appears to be a good choice for older exercises or for those of us that suffer from mobility issues because of arthritis, illness or injuries.

From all the information that I have gathered, I hope that it makes it less complicated for you to decide which martial art style that would best meet your objectives. Whichever workout regiment that you try, it is sure to maximize your physical endurance as well as uplift your mental clarity. I encourage you to have a positive attitude from the day you begin on this journey. Always remember that martial arts are equivalent to self-confidence, high moral and ultimate respect first and then the rest will emanate into your everyday life. Finally, I must inform you as well, always get advice from your medical personnel before beginning any of these styles of martial arts. Pay close attention to your body and recognize when you need a break. Remember, martial arts is about improving your life and enhancing your workout regimen, not causing harm to yourself.
