Self Defense Tactics…do you Know Enough to Survive an Attack?

What do you do when you face a beating, a robbery or a rape?

In Today’s often violent world, self-defense is no longer a choice – it’s a responsibility and knowing self defense tactics are unquestionably the best way of ridding yourself of an aggressor promptly when techniques are applied accurately.

Let’s take a look at some stats and see why knowing self defense is a good idea.

Statistics

******************************************************************

There is a violent crime every 22 seconds, 24 hours a day in the U.S.

In the year 2000 there were over fifteen thousand murders, almost two per hour!

One murder occurs every 34 minutes.

90,187 forcible rapes, one every six minutes!

Over 3,600 aggravated assaults and robberies every day! One every 24 seconds!

49,000 car jackings and attempts of car-jacking!

One burglary every 15.4 seconds!

In the year 2000, 2.8 % of college women experienced rape in a six month U.S. Department of Justice study.

As you can see we don’t live in a very safe society these days and it isn’t getting any better. Just watch the news everyday and that will tell you that crime is on the rise and we all should be looking over our shoulder. Everybody is at risk in being involved in some sort of threating situation. If you are in this situation do you know enough self defense tactics to survive?

Crime is an equal opportunity employer it doesn’t discriminate. It starts with kids in school and goes all the way to adults. Are you a parent with young children in school? Schools have changed dramatically since you and I went over 20 years ago. Kids in school now a days have to face the bully situation and peer pressure as well. School bullies are going at a rapid pace starting in elementary school. Are your children able to protect themselves in this type of environment? That is what all parents need to be asking themselves and being truthful about what they want for their children. Your children should be confident that they can protect themselves at all times. The same goes for adults as well. Confidence is the best way to get out of many attacks. If you look and feel like a victim then you will be a victim.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

******************************************************************

Here are some simple tips that you can use while learning self defense tactics.

1. Eyes: Use your fingers and start poking the eyes of your assailant. You should then be able to run away to a more secure area and get help.

2. Groin: Kicking or striking a man in the groin is often times though of as taboo. I would advise the reader though, that there are few self-defense tactics that are as effective as this one.

3. Car Keys: Your car keys are a great weapon to use. Hold your keys between your index finger and your thumb and use a swinging motion and aim for the face of your attacker. The keys act like little knife blades and can do some real damage.

4. Kicking: Start screaming and kicking anywhere you can especially in the groin or shins. Taking the heel of your foot and sliding it down on the shins is very painful and will stop most attackers. At this point you should be able to get away and get some help. Remember that attackers don’t like attention drawn to them so screaming is one of the best defenses you have.

These are just some simple tips but they are no replacement for knowing great self defense tactics. If you want to feel safe and confident you need to learn how to defend yourself.

If Violence Heads Your Way Are You Ready?

If, deep down, you know that the answer to that question is “NO”… then please keep reading. Because I’m about to reveal to you an incredibly effective fighting system that will help you to survive ANY hostile encounter you are likely to face.

You’ve got to realize that violence can happen anywhere, any time, any place. It’s your responsibility to have the skills and techniques to protect yourself and your loved ones. Here’s how…

You need to either enroll in a self defense class or train and learn at home. Since most of us are very busy people and have little time as it is I would suggest training at home. There is one system I would suggest so keep reading.

The manual is called “The Power of Simple Self Defense Tactics” — its information packed and it teaches you exactly what you have to do — in ANY situation (both mentally and physically) to beat an attacker.

But here’s the best part about this manual…Unlike most martial arts this one does not take you several years to master. No complicated movements in order to use them effectively.

You’ll learn a “fighting system” that focuses only on teaching you one thing — how to walk out of any physical attack alive, using simple and proven moves in a stunningly short time.

What Every Real Estate Agent Should Know About Self Defense

Greetings to all.  This is your Minister Of Defense, Xavier Smith with information you can use to stay safe.  Most of you that know me understand that I teach and instruct self defense, but did you know I started this company with the idea of providing instruction to real estate agents?  Yes, it is true, because there is a need for real estate agents to know how to protect themselves when doing their job.  The problem is, Realtors don’t have much time to go to a class, not to mention learning things they will not use.  Hence one of the reasons I made my services mobile.  For the ultimate in convenience!

Today I wanted to talk about one of my favorite self-defense weapons for Realtors.  Its called the Kubotan.  It is a light weight device that attaches to your key chain.  Some are made with a point on the end, and the more aggressive models are made with protrusions that come through the fingers to allow you to strike your attacker with maximum impact.

Now let me give you five reasons why this is one of my favorite weapons.

  1. When use on the vulnerable parts of the body (top of the hand, forearm, ears, eyes, nose, or throat) you do not have to exert much energy to achieve maximum results.
  2. When you deploy this weapon, you do not have to worry about the wind blowing blowing back in your face like you do when using pepper spray.
  3. The sight of this weapon makes people think twice about causing you harm, especially when you present yourself as a confident person, and not a victim.
  4. They are very inexpensive.  With everyone feeling the pinch of the economy, this is one of the least expensive ways to keep yourself protected.
  5. You do not need any permits to carry this weapon.  Unlike carrying a concealed weapon, you can have this in plain sight and if it’s on your key chain, you will be able to get to quickly since you will likely have your keys in hand.

Of course, there is only so much I can cover in a article, but here is the bottom line.  We want you to be able to stay alive to continue doing your job of real estate.  Before I sign off, let me remind you to never put your commission check in front of your safety.  Both my wife and I are in real estate so I know what I am talking about.

As a decorated 10 year US Air Force veteran with training from all around the world in Jiujitsu, I want to help. I have taken all my years of training and distilled only what really works and created a system of simple yet effective techniques that anyone can learn. My passion is to help men, women and children learn these simple techniques, thereby making you more prepared if an attack should occur.

Ten Things You Should Know about Martial Arts Summer Camps for Kids

Would you like to see your child gain self-confidence, learn goal setting skills, concentrate, gain self-discipline, and acquire life skills that he or she will have for a lifetime? Of course you do; we all want the best for our children.

A Martial Arts Summer Camp is a complete success enhancement program for your child, which will challenge his or her mind and body. Here are just ten of the many benefits you can expect your child to receive in just one summer.

Concentration: Your child will learn to increase his or her attention span. Focusing is major problem for children; especially for boys, but martial arts are completely filled with concentration drills.

Stress Management: Kids are taught how to constructively deal with stress. Just by getting some physical activity, behavior will improve when children come home. Without recess and physical education, children have a lot of “bottled up” energy.

Self-Discipline: Your child is taught how to set priorities and get ahead. Children have to multi-task, but martial arts training will give them perseverance and the ability to prioritize their daily lives for success.

Respect: Your child will demonstrate courtesy and respect at home. How? Once he or she practices courtesy and respect all day – this habit will be carried home.

Anger Management: We provide a safe outlet for dealing with anger. Kicking and punching bags is very safe, if supervised by a qualified martial arts instructor. This allows kids to “blow off some steam,” without hurting themselves.

Motivation: Your child will be inspired to achieve. Positive energy is rampant, within a martial arts setting, and this inspires children to excel in every aspect of their lives. As you already know, motivation is what turns dreamers into achievers.

Self-Defense: Every child will learn physical and non-physical self defense. As a by-product of attending a martial arts intensive, such as a kid’s summer camp, every child can adequately protect him or herself.

Total Fitness: Children receive a complete workout every day they attend a martial arts summer camp. It is not natural for children to sit in front of a television set all day. It is much healthier for them to run, kick, jump, and yell. This also helps them sleep better, too.

Time Management: Your child will learn many time saving drills that make your life easier. Children need to have structure and order gently reinforced, so that it can be ingrained within their consciousness.

Goal Setting: This is contagious in a Martial Arts atmosphere. When your child earns his or her first colored belt, he or she realizes goals by continually putting forth effort. This skill is also applied to an academic setting for maximum success.

These are ten of the many life skills your child, will gain from a Martial Arts Summer Camp.

Martial Arts- What You Know About Martial Arts Training

Like any other arts, martial arts training is an important contributor to your proficiency in the field. Whether you are aiming to participate in competitions or learn for the sake of self-defense, people often to choose MMA or Mixed Martial Arts Training, to develop an overall expertise in the area. Here are some tips to set you on the right path for martial arts training.

These tips are aimed to make you comfortable as well as efficient in each area of martial arts:

1. Wrestling: This is your ground game training where the basic idea is to teach you the art of grappling along with some submission training. Ju-jitsu is the right type of martial arts where you could get a good idea and practice of grappling with submissions.

2. Striking: This is part of your stand up game where you would be trained to master the art of striking like, boxing or kick boxing. Muay Hai is the recommended training to learn the critical art of striking and kicking. This training teaches you the skill of clinching and knee strikes.

3. Cardio training: This is perhaps one of the most critical areas of martial arts training. While you may have mastered the art of grappling or striking, if your cardio training is not up to the mark, you could get beaten by any ordinary person, who may not be as strong as you are in these two areas.

The quality of martial arts training really depends on the type of school you have chosen. There is nothing called the ‘right’ martial arts school as you would have to choose it according to your specific needs, which could any of the following: develop self defense skills; for physical fitness; to participate in competitions; develop self-confidence; or as a purely social activity.

While all these aspects are important, you have to decide which of these is most important to you. For instance, some schools impart martial arts training to make you participate in competitions. Others may just teach you the basics but rarely put you through the entire course of martial arts training.

One very way to get the most out of your martial arts training class is to observe the instructor’s style and listen to his instructions carefully. You should also get to learn the various safety methods practiced during martial arts training. Learn to use safety gear like pads, headgear and mouthpieces.

This is all part of the training program. When you are trying to enroll in a school for martial arts training, watch out for schools which offer 5 to 6 free training sessions. This is sampling the art to you and if you like what you are doing, then you can join them. This is good for beginners as there is no cost involved for these training classes and some schools even allow you to rent uniforms for the free training purposes.

If you are wondering what could be the possible cost for taking martial arts training, you ought to remember that the cheapest school is not necessarily the best. Also the expensive classes like the ones in YMCA or any community center, may also not suit your individual purposes.

When starting out, you could expect to pay anywhere between $30 and $250 per month in a reputed school for martial arts training. Of course the cost of uniforms, tournament entry fees and other equipment like weapons or sparring gear would be extra.
