Youth Self Defense – How To Keep Your Child Safe Without Placing Them In Danger

So, how does youth self defense keep your child safe and not put them in danger? Read on and find out what is needed to protect your child from your child and everyone else.

With the introduction of the internet came international access to a variety of self defense products and defensive devices to protect all types of men and women. Items such as stun guns, Tasers, pepper spray and expandable steel batons have become a common assistant for many Americans. While these devices are great and most are very effective, they do have one huge drawback – they are not for children. So, how do you keep your child safe if they cannot carry the items made to keep people safe? The crazy thing is that children are most vulnerable and perhaps need the devices more than anyone. I guess it would be a bad idea to have millions of children running around with Tasers and big steel sticks, but we need to keep them safe nevertheless. Youth self defense will do just that.

I have been asked many times about youth self defense products. I always reply with just about the same answer. When asked my reply is usually “it depends on the age of the child”. A teenager can be taught to use a defensive device that is legal for almost anyone such as a kubotans or perhaps they may be served best by a good self defense course. If your child is younger it is best to educate them about the dangers of life including walking home from school and even being home alone. Education and awareness of ones surroundings are the keys for any successful self defense situation regardless of age.

After informing your child of the dangers of the world you may also want to arm them with a personal alarm and/or a quality youth self defense class. There are many personal alarms on the market today that will be an effective tool for children. My personal choice for a child would be the Stun Factory Banshee personal alarm. This devise is very small, comes in bright colors that kids like and is easily activated. When the strap is pulled, a small metal pin is pulled out of the alarm triggering its very loud siren. One of the best features is that when the strap and metal pin pulls out, it does not come out the entire way, preventing your child from losing the trigger strap. Other personal alarms will also be effective for children and some even come with strobe lights and other visual warning signals. Whatever alarm you choose be sure that it is at least 120 Db, any less and it may not be an effective youth self defense device. To find a self defense class for your child you can check your local phone book. There are classes designed just for children of almost any age. I suggest sitting in on a class before signing up to see if the instruction is what you are looking for.

Now you can arm your child without worrying if they will end up shocked, sprayed or knocked in the head by a baton. Using some of these youth self defense tips should provide a good start to protecting your child and keeping them safe from themselves. I must stress again that education and awareness of your surroundings may just be the most important thing you can do to keep them safe.

Self-defense: the Role of Your Emotions in Surviving a Brutal Self-defense Attack

Most self-defense and martial arts instructors avoid the emotions altogether. Others limit their focus on a gross over-simplification of emotional response during an attack situation. But, beyond being scared or angry, what role do the emotions play in handling a potentially deadly situation?

Did you ever wonder about that?

Aside from being reactions to the moment-to-moment occurances as we go through our days, what role do your emotions play. For most of us, it’s kind of like your blood type. Apart from knowing what it is so we don’t get the wrong type if we need to have a transfusion, it just like emotions are just things that we “have” and have no control over.

In reality, your emotions are actually tied to our body’s own natural, human, defense system. It’s true. Your body is already hard-wired for self-defense from birth.

The thing is that, our sophisticated brains, socialization, and cultural, academic, and familial education has almost made us completely clueless that we have these abilities and functions.

So, what is the function of your emotions, and how can they help us in our defense? Good question.

It’s not the focus of this article to go into all of the inner workings of your human brain. Let’s just start with some very simple responses to stimuli from the world around us.

You see, everything that we’re exposed to, causes a feeling, or response at a base, primitive level. This happens without us being conscious of it, and also happens below the level of what we normally call our emotions.

These base “feelings” or responses can be generally identified as feelings of:

  • Attraction - we’re drawn to it
  • Aversion - we don’t like it, or…
  • Apathy - we don’t care either way

Don’t confuse these primitive feelings with higher, more complicated emotional moods like:

  • Love
  • Hate, and…
  • Ignorance

They are much simpler and tied not to the higher brain functions, but actually come from your primitive “reptilian” brain – also known as the R-complex – the part of your brain that’s primarily concerned with self-preservation activities like eating, procreating, and not-dying.

“Why,” you may ask, “do I want to know all this scientific mumbo-jumbo? All I want to do is pick up some moves to protect myself?”

And I would answer, “you don’t have to learn anything.”

Not if you just want to learn those “moves” and then hope that you’ll be able to use them in a real combat situation.

Here’s the thing. When you’re training in your martial arts or self-defense class, you’re in a differnt state – pumped up, happy, having a good time. Yes?

Looking at the base feelings I described a minute ago, that would mean you were in “attraction” mode, where you like what you’re doing and want more of it. The activity – the training – it feels good and, while perhaps difficult at times, probably not very threatening or dangerous at all.

Now, it doesn’t matter if you’ve ever been in a real fight, or ever been attacked by an enraged individual out for blood, I’m sure you can imagine what that must be like. You can almost see his eyes and the intense look on his face. Add to that, the pressure and intention he’s projecting and the smell of him – we can’t forget the smell and feel of him as he moves in on you.

Are you still in “attraction” mode? I bet not. And you’re not even in the real attack. You’re just thinking about it and you’re having an “aversion” response.

How do you think you’re going to feel actually being in the heat of the moment?

Right. Very different than in class or your own personal training sessions where there is no real danger.

If you get the idea of the role and great value that your emotions play in keeping you safe. And, if you learn what role they play in spearheading your body’s natural defense mechanisms, then you can also train to tap into their power and use them as tools for your own protection.

Realizing this will also allow you to tailor and adapt your actual training methods to accomodate, acknowledge, and use your emotions as the valuable tools they are.

Remember, any monkey can learn the moves, but a true expert – a true master – takes advantage of things that most individuals don’t even know about, or don’t know exist. So, do you have to study and use your emotions in your self-defense training? No.

But then, you don’t “have” to breath either. But I’d highly recommend it!

Sharpen Your Psychic Self-Defense Skills – Simple Tips

Every individual needs to sharpen their skills to help them succeed in whatever goal they want to pursue. It take work and practice to improve our skills. And it takes a positive attitude to make the changes necessary to reach your goals.

Every individual has at their core a spiritual energy center that radiates in what some call the aura. The aura is visible evidence of the strength of our psychic self-defense. That is, it reveals the strength of our spiritual core and energy that protects us from the negative energies and influences that surround us.

It is possible to improve our psychic self-defense skills by reducing negative thinking and behavior and focusing on building our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Having well-honed psychic self-defense skills, we are better prepared to make healthy choices and good decisions, and we have inner resources to face the stresses of modern life.

The first step in improving our psychic self-defense skills is introspection. It’s looking inside yourself for those negative patterns and ways of thinking that hold you back and make you more vulnerable to negativity from outside. It’s identifying and eliminating your own personal barriers to self-respect and self-love. It’s identifying and nurturing your positive patterns and ways of thinking.

As these changes begin to become part of you, you will find yourself less anxious, more energetic, and more positive. You’ll feel the relief that comes with freeing the intuitive side of your personality that has been repressed for so long. You’ll have greater self-confidence, and you’ll be capable of achieving more than you ever thought possible.

When you’ve identified those things that you need to change, you’re on the road to having sharper, more effective psychic self-defense skills. Now, write down you goals and begin to make the changes that will help you achieve them.

It’s important to know that stress is a major reason people fail with they attempt to sharpen their psychic self-defense skills. Know that stress and anxiety produce failure and disappointment. You must find ways to reduce the stress in your life, and there are many techniques that will help you do just that.

One way to relieve stress and anxiety is to write down those thoughts and feelings, analyze them realistically, and put them in true perspective. The old question, “How important is it, really?” is a useful tool at this phase.

Meditation is the most successful and effective tool to help you improve your psychic self-defense skills. It relieves stress. It helps clear negative energies and thought patterns. It promotes physical and mental healing. And it opens the mind to new and creative thinking. Meditating every day for at least 20 minutes is a powerful way to improve your psychic self-defense skills.

Identifying clear goals will help you succeed because it builds motivation and energy. Working toward those goals can be stressful, but progress brings satisfaction and increased energy. Building psychic self-defense skills is a process, and it requires work and time. The challenges and frustrations along the way are lessons that help us make better progress as our skills continue to improve. Don’t give up. Just keep on doing the best you can.

Use modern technology to help you reach your goals. Research on the Internet to learn what others do to succeed and what others have learned by their failures. Use it to locate resources and tools. Use the Internet and project planning software to help you develop a well thought-out plan with reasonable, achievable steps and milestones. Be as systematic is you can in working toward your goals.

Use meditation to help reach your inner, intuitive knowledge. Before you start meditation, plant the seed of a question in your mind. You’ll be amazed the creative ideas that will come to you during and after your meditation. It will also help you identify the steps you need to take and eliminate barriers to progress.

It’s impossible to eliminate all stress in today’s world, but you can reduce it by building your psychic self-defense skills. Some stresses are healthy because they give us clear objectives and challenges. Think of obstacles as opportunities, and reduce the stress and anxiety in your life.

Working on your psychic self-defense skills is a powerful way to self-development and improving the quality of your life. Using meditation and other techniques, you’ll be better able to identify meaningful goals and the activities and methods to help you achieve them. It won’t be a quick easy fix, but it will provide you with benefits and rewards far beyond the effort you invest.

Self-defense: Using Your Body’s Own Super Self Preservation Modes

Contrary to popular belief, the human body has a set of ready-made, built-in defense modes that can be used in your defense during an attack. Here, I’ll briefly discuss these modes and how you can tap into to win against a dangerous attacker.

To look at most martial arts and self-defense programs, you can easily come to the belief that all you have to do is pickup a bunch of moves or techniques, practice until you can execute them well, and…voila, that’s it. You’re a master or self-defense expert.

But, there is one element that’s routinelY absent from most self defense programs. And that is the utilization of the emotional states as tools for defense.

In the past several years, systems and programs have emerged that focus on what’s referred to as “adrenal response training.” These programs, however, tend to focus on only one of these emotional states, or modes.

There are actually four of these modes that we can find ourselves in when face-to-face with a dangerous assailant. Each state is a natural response to several factors including things like your:

  • 1. Perception of danger or level of threat
  • 2. Personality type
  • 3. Rules and restrictions that your aware of as a part of your job

And others

Each of these modes is more than a mood, state, or condition which we might find ourselves in. They also control, in many ways, how we process information, and even work to free or hinder certain types of body movement.

The Four Response Modes Are:

  • Stable/Confident
  • Adaptable/Defensive
  • Direct/Aggressive
  • Slippery/Evasive

As I said, each of these modes is both a reaction to the current situation, and a strategy for handling a situation in a very unique way. As a general outline, I’ll quickly explain each mode from both a responsive and a proactive perspective.

Please note that the following modes are in no particular order of importance, nor is one better than any of the others. However you may find that one or two feel more comfortable or “natural” for you, each should be seen as an option that can be pressed into service in a self-defense situation. And, as I’ve said time and again, the more options you have in any given situation, the greater your chances for getting the results you want.

Stable/Confident “Earth” Mode.

This defense mode is marked by an overall sense of relaxed calm. You really don’t perceive a threat and you are in firm control of the encounter. Notice that I didn’t say that you were defiant and forced a sense of command. In what I call the “earth-mode,” you use superior positioning and relaxed strength to stop his attacks and direct your strong points against his weak ones, using leverage and crushing pressure to put an end to his plan to hurt you.

Adaptive/Defensive “Water” Mode

Just like the nature of water, you adapt to his movements. You use long-range, defensive angling to pull away from his attacks and , just like an ocean wave crash back in with powerful strikes and kicks to his vulnerable weak targets. This mode is often present when you feel intimidated by his size, strength, or other factors. You naturally want to create time and distance between you and him so that he has to work harder to get at you.

Direct/Aggressive “Fire” Mode.

Either out of fear, anger, or a need to get him first, you move in and direct the fight to the bad guy. In the “fire” mode, you are almost pulled in by a sense of urgency and a desire to get things over with “now”. When I say “aggressive,” I do not necessarily mean destructive, but rather a direct, committed, “go-for-it” attitude which moves you straight in in to meet the assailant before he can really get started. Again, this mode may be triggered by anger just as easily as it could be initiated out of a sense of being cornered and needing to do something right away.

Slippery/Evasive “Wind” Mode.

This mode is marked by a very carefree, open movement with a sense of last-second timing to evade, avoid, and wrap up the opponent with his own attacks. The body position often used with this mode is very open and looks very strange when compared to the more common martial arts and self-defense stances that you often see. This mode could be caused by a complete desire to avoid the situation altogether. It could also be used in a playful, confusing way as you effortlessly slip your attacker’s punches, kicks, and grabs only to catch him with your own attacks from unseen and confusing directions.

Like I said, no one mone mode is better than any other. Each is a natural response that is hardwired inside us and a piece of our overall natural human self-protection mechanisms.

While all of us has leaned toward one or another of these modes as we’ve moved through our lives, and think of that mode as being “only natural” for us. The truth is that, with proper training, each mode can be developed, enhanced, and honed as a very advantageous strategic option for handling a real-world self-defense encounter on front of a very real-world attacker.

Choosing The Right Martial Arts Shoes For Your Child

When your child or children begins studying martial arts, it is important to make sure that they have the right martial arts shoes. Protective gear for the feet is essential for proper safety, and most types are made of lightweight material that is designed to provide flexibility and traction.

Most sparring moves involve striking with the top of the foot, which is why sparring boots are made with foam like material to provide cushion for the feet and ankle joints, which the most commonly injured bones during martial arts exercise. Most of these shoes also extend over the top of the foot to provide ultimate protection. Childrens feet are constantly growing, so it may be tempting to purchase lesser quality gear. This is one area where you should splurge, for the very reason. Growing feet need support, particularly developing tendons and bones.

Shoes that are too small can cause corns, calluses, and blisters, and can result in impact related injury, since they essentially restrict the movement of the feet. Combine this with the high impact nature of martial arts sparring moves, and it is easy to see why shoes that are too small are a major cause of sparring related injury. Conversely, shoes that are too big can result in blisters and injuries related to slipping and falling during a practice or match. This is not the time to purchase shoes for your children to grow into.

You can find martial arts shoes for children in a wide variety of colors and styles, the most common being black, dark blue, red, white, and pink. Depending on the skill level of your child and the preferences of the instructor, the choice of shoes may be more or less limited. If cost is a factor, you may want to consider purchasing a high quality used pair. Make sure to let your child or children try on the shoes before you purchase them, even if you are sure of their size, since sizing standards vary widely by manufacturer.

The most important thing to remember is that the right pair of shoes, like the other martial arts accessories are designed to protect your little one while they perfect their martial arts skills. Look for shoes that are well constructed, flexible, durable, and that fit your child well and your child will be ready to begin learning martial arts sparring moves, the safe way.

Finding the Right Martial Arts Instructor For Your Kids

The most common mistake that parents make when enrolling their kids into martial arts classes is choosing the wrong instructor. You can select an inappropriate style for your child (for example, karate versus aikido) and make a change later. But, the wrong trainer can stifle the excitement a young person feels for learning the martial arts. What’s worse, a bad teacher can unwittingly discourage their participation. It is not enough that a teacher has a black belt; proficiency in the various styles does not suggest competence in training children.

In this article, we’ll discuss four factors that every parent should consider before choosing a martial arts instructor for their kids. Each factor requires asking questions and observing classes. You’ll need to uncover the trainer’s philosophy as well as their style of training and the regimen they follow. You should also consider your child’s comfort level with the trainer and their approach to safety issues.

Philosophy

Every dojo has a guiding philosophy and they vary by facility. Some academies emphasize self-defense and may teach an aggressive response to hostile situations. Other schools stress personal growth, physical and mental discipline, and cultivating respect for others. The school that you choose for your children should encourage principles that are consistent with the values you want them to learn. While most teachers will conduct their classes under the dojo’s philosophy, you should ask in order to be certain.

Training Style

Every martial arts instructor will have their own style of training kids. Some styles may be inappropriate. For example, a trainer might be verbally abusive if a child makes mistakes or otherwise fails to perform. Some instructors will merely explain moves rather than demonstrating them. Still others will overcompensate for their students’ age and speak in a manner that is more appropriate for smaller children.

The problem is that a child’s appetite to learn the martial arts must be nurtured in the right way. If an instructor’s training style fails to do so, that child can often become discouraged. Eventually, they’ll lose interest.

Level Of Comfort

Allowing your son or daughter to meet the teacher before enrolling them into martial arts classes is critical. The dojo’s trainer might be proficient and use an encouraging training style, but your child can still feel uncomfortable in his company. Eventually, that lack of comfort will affect how much they get out of the classes. Visit the dojo with your son or daughter and encourage them to ask the instructor questions about the training. That exposure will help them gain familiarity with the teacher.

Safety

Of course, ensuring your child’s safety is the most important factor when choosing a martial arts instructor. You might be surprised by the differences between trainers. Some teach children to break wooden boards with their limbs. Keep in mind that young people’s bones are still growing; board-breaking might pose a problem. Other teachers routinely encourage their students to “shake it off” in the event they’re injured. While that might be appropriate in circumstances where a child simply wants attention, the teacher must be able to identify when a real emergency exists.

You’ll need to observe a few classes in order to truly understand a teacher’s approach to safety issues. Take note of how they treat children who claim to be injured. They should use a balanced approach that is neither too dismissive nor overly protective.

Long-Term Instruction

Philosophy, training style, level of comfort, and approach to safety… each factor is critical to ensuring that your child gets as much out of his or her martial arts classes as possible. These factors play an enormous role in kids’ physical and mental development during training. The teacher who provides the right balance often establishes a bond with students that becomes an integral component of their progress.

One of the challenges of finding a great instructor is knowing that they’ll teach at the dojo long-term. Smaller academies typically offer trainers who have been there for years; some are even owners. Larger schools may experience higher turnover. Keep that in mind while you’re visiting different studios with your child.

Kids martial arts classes often serve as the springboard for a lifelong pursuit. The instructor that you choose in the beginning can play an important part in encouraging that pursuit.

The Fitness Alternative: Choosing Martial Arts for Your Exercise Routine

You paid good money to join a health club and what did you get in return? Having to put your name on a sign-in sheet just to use the cardio machines, televisions blasting, cleaning up sweat off of some piece of equipment because the person who previously used it didn’t have the courtesy to wipe it down. A singles club atmosphere complete with uninvited attention, waiting to use the free weights because some clown is spending way too much time primping in front of the mirror? This is hardly a refuge for most busy men and women looking to get fit!

Have you ever considered the martial arts alternative? Many adults are disgusted with the run-of-the-mill fitness centers and have looked to the martial arts as a way to get into shape. Martial art training can provide you with all the benefits of physical exercise without the circus-type atmosphere of the average health club.

The traditional martial arts curriculum is designed to develop your overall fitness level. Classes always include some flexibility training in the form of stretching exercises. The various movements and techniques that you practice during class help develop your cardiovascular health, as well as stamina and focus. The modern martial arts instructor welcomes students who are looking for a fitness alternative and has gone out of his or her way to incorporate strength training either with lightweights and/ or resistance exercises.

A martial arts workout has more benefits to offer then a gym workout. In the gym your pretty much limited to working on strength and endurance (cardio). In a martial arts workout you get not only strength and endurance, you also receive flexibility, balance, coordination, body unity, alignment, hand eye coordination. Plus your body can get used to a gym workout very quickly, which means our progress will level off. Martial arts constantly makes your body guess what’s next which will keep it moving towards higher levels of fitness,

When you go to a gym, you may get a few sessions with a personal trainer as part of your membership package. Once that’s finished, you’re basically on your own unless you want to pay for more sessions. What’s nice about martial art training is that as you advance through the curriculum through some type of belt or sash grading system, more is expected of you physically. By following the curriculum laid out by your instructor, you progress to higher levels of fitness. In the meantime, you are learning to defend yourself!

Martial arts classes are also fun! Working through the various levels in the style you have chosen is both challenging and exciting. You’ll have a sense of pride and accomplishment that you’ll never get jogging aimlessly on some treadmill!

Martial Arts Can Improve Your Health While You Have Fun

You may think that martial art movements are only about kicking the heart out of your opponents. Well, partly you are right. But behind the fun and excitement of breaking your enemy’s nasal cartilage or poking out his eyes, martial arts training can well be considered as an excellent workout.

This is why there are a lot of people nowadays who go on trying to learn how to kick and punch not because they want to join a brawl in a bar. Rather, many people want to increase their body’s metabolism, improve secretion of certain brain chemicals, or simply enhance their overall well-being.

Martial arts can help you gain skills that are high above any ordinary individual. But few people know the health benefits that come with such deadly exercises. The positive effects of these exercises in one’s health can be best demonstrated by comparing the physical condition of older martial arts practitioners with their non-practicing contemporaries. You will easily find that martial artists look years, if not decades, younger than other members of their age bracket who believe in sedentary lifestyle.

Truly, undergoing martial arts training allows you to enjoy a unique program that combines exhilarating adrenaline rush with a no nonsense workout. Here are a few advantages that martial arts can bring to your overall health.

Weight Loss

Any martial art training, in essence, is an aerobic exercise. When you do this kind of training, you are able to move most, if not all of your muscles. As an important part of your fitness program, martial arts can burn considerable amounts of calories and help you lose unwanted weight.

Many practitioners have been observed to burn up to 5,000 calories daily, if they practice regularly. Some even claim that all the kicking and screaming during sessions can decrease one’s appetite. No wonder it is hard to find traditional and sports martial artists who weigh a ton, unless you talk about sumo wrestling – but that’s another story.

Enhanced Liver Functions

Everyone knows the important role that the liver plays in one’s life. Without it, one can not live. Liver is an important component in metabolism, especially in regulating carbohydrates in the bloodstream. You see, substances like fats, carbohydrates and proteins from the food you ate are brought to the liver.

These nutrients are eventually turned into simple sugars and are either released into the bloodstream or stored as glycogen by the liver. Uncontrolled amounts of glycogen in your blood may not be good for your health. But for most practitioners of martial arts, the liver tends to have increased capacity to store glycogen; thus, preventing more sugar to circulate in the blood.

Enhanced Physiological Activity

Sign up for at least three weeks of serious martial arts training in your nearby Karate or Taekwondo school and you will see remarkable changes in your overall bodily functions. Masters say that you will definitely attain healthier blood sugar and blood pressure levels within a very short time if you practice martial arts.

Other benefits include improved brain chemistry and blood supply to your cells and tissues. All these changes can positively improve the functioning of your brain and body. And with that, you have a better chance of preventing diabetes, heart ailments and certain cancers from happening to you.

These are but a few of the health benefits that you can gain from doing martial arts exercises. Needless to say, any martial art program requires that you have well-functioning muscles and joints. Over time, part of the health benefits of martial arts can help you deal with most pains and aches.

But for now, you will not be able to perform at your peak if you can not move your joints due to arthritis or other joint problems. To prevent stiffness in the joints from ruining your martial art workout, you need products that improve and lubricate your joints, just like Flexcerin. How to Select Your Martial Arts Equipment

Many people are planning to start learning about martial arts nowadays but may not have taken into account the fact that they will need martial arts equipment to be able to practice this hobby or occupation. Here are some tips on how to get the best martial arts equipment you need:

1.Try to figure out which martial arts equipment you want to become proficient in. The uniforms in martial arts differ in design, color and use so you have to be specific about which uniform you wish to use. This also applies to your martial arts equipment since the martial arts equipment for one martial art may be unique to that martial art.

2.Find out what protective gear you need to be able to spar and train in your preferred martial arts. Protective gear as martial arts equipment is very important because the last thing you want is to get injured in a sparring session. Protective gear as martial arts equipment can be categorized either as head gear (like face masks and helmets), gear to protect your torso (like chest shields), gear to protect your groin (which is more for men than women, and may consist of a crotch guard or sports cup to shield your privates from being punched or kicked), shin guards to keep the shin area of your legs from being injured when you block a flying kick with your legs (since getting hit on the shin tends to be rather painful since there isn’t much flesh and muscle to shield your shin bone), feet gear (such as kicking boots, designed to keep your opponent from being critically injured if you should hit them with your legs or feet), and hand gear (such as punching mitts, used also to shield your opponent from the full force of your punches.) You need to invest in quality martial arts equipment as protective gear so you get the best protection possible.

3.You can also invest in practice martial arts equipment. This means getting punching bags (like those used in boxing), and martial arts dummies (which attempt to give you an idea of how to punch and kick a real human being.) Your punching bag can consist of either the teardrop bag or the bigger boxing-type punching bag. Martial arts dummies are basically like punching bags except they may be a bit bigger and shaped like human bodies. Though these martial arts equipment are no replacement for sparring and training with real-live opponents (because these practice equipment cannot dodge your blows or retaliate), they are very important to have around so you can get the feel for the sport.

4.There will be sports that require you to become proficient in certain martial arts weapons (which are also martial arts equipment.) However, you should always be careful when trying out such weapons in the first few sessions because you might hurt someone badly (such as yourself) if you don’t know what you are doing. If you are at the stage when martial arts equipment like weapons are necessary, then always pay attention to your instructor and learn how to master the weapons first. Often, such weapons were designed to maim your opponent and maybe even kill him so caution is always necessary in training with weapons.

Martial arts equipment were designed to work a certain way. Many martial arts equipment have a long history that can help you study how your preferred martial arts evolved. Study carefully how martial arts equipment are meant to be used and they can really help you become a better martial artist afterwards.
